Privacy Policy

When you use ReceWise, we may collect:

• Account information: your email address, optional profile information, and authentication records needed to operate your account.
• Receipt files: photos, screenshots, PDFs, invoices, and similar files you choose to upload.
• Purchase information: information extracted from receipts, such as merchants, purchase dates, products, quantities, sizes, prices, totals, categories, and your resulting price history.
• Preferences and location information: information such as ZIP code, city, comparison radius, currency, and notification preferences used to personalize the service and find relevant nearby stores and prices.
• Operational information: technical records related to receipt processing, scan usage, price lookups, errors, performance, security, and abuse prevention.

Receipts may sometimes contain sensitive or personal information. ReceWise does not intentionally use receipt contents to create sensitive personal profiles or for advertising. You may redact information you do not want included before uploading a receipt.

Operational monitoring is designed to record technical information rather than full receipt contents.

We use information to:

• Process receipts and extract purchase information.
• Let you review, correct, and save purchases.
• Build your personal purchase and price history.
• Generate spending and purchase insights.
• Search for current or comparable retailer prices.
• Find relevant nearby stores.
• Secure ReceWise and prevent abuse.
• Enforce receipt-processing usage limits.
• Diagnose technical problems and improve reliability.
• Respond to support, privacy, and account requests.

ReceWise does not sell your personal data or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

We use service providers and third-party services to operate ReceWise. These may include:

• Cloud hosting, database, authentication, and file-storage providers.
• Artificial intelligence providers used to process uploaded receipts.
• Product, retailer, and pricing-information services.
• Search and shopping-data services.
• Location and mapping services.
• Technical infrastructure, security, and monitoring services.

Depending on the feature you use, these services may receive limited information necessary to perform their function, such as:

• account information
• uploaded receipt content
• extracted purchase information
• product names or identifiers
• store-related search information
• approximate location information such as a ZIP code or city
• technical and operational information

Price and store lookups are designed to use product information and approximate location information rather than your receipt image or account email where those details are not needed.

We may change service providers as ReceWise evolves. Their handling of information may also be governed by their own terms, privacy policies, and agreements with us.

ReceWise uses automated artificial intelligence to help read receipts and convert them into structured purchase information.

Receipt files and information contained in them may be sent to OpenAI for processing.

AI-generated results may be incomplete or incorrect. ReceWise allows you to review and correct extracted information before it becomes part of your finalized purchase history.

A receipt may be uploaded, stored, and processed before you confirm it. It is not added to your finalized purchase history until you review and save the purchase.

We generally retain:

• Receipts and purchase history: until you delete the information or delete your account, subject to operational and legal requirements.
• Account information: while your account remains active and as otherwise necessary for legitimate business or legal purposes.
• Operational and security records: for a limited period needed for security, debugging, usage enforcement, and service reliability.
• Backups: deleted information may remain temporarily in routine backups until those backups are overwritten or expire through normal retention processes.

We do not promise immediate deletion from every backup system.

ReceWise provides controls that may allow you to:

• Export your purchase history.
• Delete individual receipts.
• Delete your purchase data.
• Permanently delete your account.
• Review and correct extracted purchase information.

Depending on where you live, applicable privacy laws may provide additional rights, including rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, or information about how your personal data is used.

You may also have the right to appeal certain decisions regarding a privacy request.

To make a privacy request, contact: privacy@recewise.com. We will respond as required by applicable law and will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.

ReceWise may use an approximate location, such as a ZIP code or city, to identify nearby stores and improve price comparisons.

If ReceWise later introduces features that collect more precise location information, this Privacy Policy will be updated as appropriate.

ReceWise and the service providers we use may process information in the United States or other countries where they operate.

Where required by applicable law, appropriate safeguards may be used for international transfers of personal data.

ReceWise is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.

If you believe a child has provided personal information to ReceWise, contact: privacy@recewise.com.

ReceWise may use cookies, browser storage, or similar technologies that are necessary to provide functionality such as:

• keeping you signed in
• remembering application preferences
• supporting application functionality
• supporting offline or queued uploads where available

ReceWise does not currently use personal data for third-party behavioral advertising.

We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information handled by ReceWise.

However, no online service, database, or transmission method can guarantee absolute security.

When we make changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Where appropriate, we may also provide additional notice of material changes.
